Since
Tresman Steel Industries Ltd. incorporation over 30 years ago they
have grown to a formidable force as a steel fabricator in southern
Ontario. After surviving the last two recessions, they have formulated
and solidified their role for the coming years.
The last recession eliminated a great number of fabricators in Ontario.
The demand is now handled by only 20 to 25 fabricators. Since larger
Ontario companies are no longer a force in the steel industry, Tresman
and M&G Steel formed a joint venture company to handle larger
projects, MGT Steel Ltd.
Tresman
steel has also changed the type of work to insure their niche in
the industry.
In the past, design / build projects (where the fabricator is the
designer of the steel structure) represented 40% of their annual sales.
Since 2001, this percentage has increased to almost 60%. With Tresman
steel's engineers (3) and Dorlan's staff, they are able to design
and price projects very quickly. Since cost and time are the two
driving forces in the construction industry, more and more of the developers are
turning to this avenue of construction. |
